“KISKA is the only place I could thrive.”
For over 15 years Julian Herget has built business with brand and design at KISKA. Starting as a product design intern, he is now a managing partner and member of the board. He also leads research and strategy at KISKA. If you’re searching for the spark that fires up strategy and creativity, Julian is your man.
There are two sides to every story however. Julian is also a family man; a dedicated husband and father of three. Life is full, but it’s the one he designed for himself. He wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Do they make waterproof Post-Its? A lot of thinking can happen in the shower. Big ideas, surprising connections and unexpected solutions.”
From the crack of dawn, Julian is “on”, juggling a variety of work and family obligations. So, you can’t blame him for taking time getting ready. Real life comes in many forms however. Like a wakeup call by the kids and walking his eldest to kindergarten. Or, the morning drive in his treasured Land Rover Defender. Despite the brand name connotations, the truck’s functional aesthetic appeals to Julian. A self-described “tinkerer”, his love of riveted aluminium runs deep.
“My friends say I’m like MacGyver. I like to create functionality and build solutions with bits and pieces.”
Julian’s tinkerer soul has a direct link to his role at KISKA. By connecting the dots between business objectives, brand goals and creative topics, he assembles “plug-and-play” solutions for clients. Solutions that are pragmatic and implementable. Listening to people, and recording their wants, needs and dreams on paper, he gives the corporate world a creative pulse.
It’s why he loves Post-Its so much! With them he forms connections, sets measurable creative targets and generates business cases for brand and design.
“I’m totally focussed when I’m doing board sports, but ideas can come anytime.”
Julian has a lot going on. How does he unwind? By making the most of KISKA’s Alpine Playground. That means longboarding, lunchtime runs and surfing the Salzburg Almkanal.
After lunch, Julian’s presence in the studio cannot be understated. Connecting creative fields and industries, he works hands-on with KISKA’s specialists in brand, design and communications. Setting goals and championing the client’s business, the stream of input and output is constant.
From sharing a meal to reading bedtime stories, Julian’s dedication to his wife and children shines through.
For one of KISKA’s most performance-driven characters, family is an important source of balance. Though, it’s always good to have a few Post-Its within reach.
“Balance is essential in the life I’ve built for myself. I’m proud that I can live up to it.“
